Tips To Recycle Old Brown Boxes

All of us have come across those big brown boxes that are used to pack large appliances like the microwave or simple toys like a teddy bear. Some of us might instantly throw it away but, you should keep it as you will be needing them soon.

Most of the time, people just take out all of what is inside the box and throw the box out into the yard or into the garbage can. Come to think of it, that would be the worse thing you can do. Boxes can still be recycled and reused for other purposes that you might need later on.

There are a lot of use for these boxes. For example, if you plan on moving from one house to another, you can use those large boxes to store some things into it. Once you are done packing up those boxes, you can them label them so that people will not be confused and they will be able to recognize what is inside without opening the boxes.

For smaller boxes like that of a shoebox, you can store smaller pieces of your items. For kids, it is generally used for small trinkets and items that are very dear to them. Teenagers usually do this to store their CDs and other prized items.

Also, with smaller boxes, they are very easy to cut out thus you can make shapes and cardboard characters for your children to play with. You can gather your kids around a table and let them think of a shape or character they want and as they watch, you begin to do your little magic with the boxes. This helps you children liven up their imagination.

To make things interesting, you can let them color their cut-outs too. Or you can help them paste their cut-outs together.

If you do not have any plans on your boxes, then find a way for you to recycle them. You can either give them away or you can at least dispose of them in a proper way. Make sure that you do not tear your boxes down as someone will still be able to use it.

Take your unused boxes to a recycling station so that others can make full use of it. Do not throw them away as it might add more garbage into your neighborhood. Whatever it is that you are planning on doing with your boxes, reusing it means that you are saving the environment.

Clutter Control: Decluttering Your Home In 4 Steps

Is clutter overtaking your home? Would you like to have friends over after work but are ashamed of the appearance of your home? Does the thought of decluttering make you feel overwhelmed?

Many, many people feel the same way. In this article I’m going to describe 4 steps that will help you achieve clutter control in very little time.

*First make a list of all of your rooms. Then prioritize your list in order of which rooms to declutter first. For example, if my goal is to have dinner guests, I would probably put my kitchen, dining room, living room, and guest bathroom at the top of the list. My bedrooms, etc. would rank at the bottom of the list. Ranking the rooms in your list makes it more likely that you’ll finish the “most important” rooms in case you run out of time or are interrupted.

*Second, while carrying a trash bag, go through your rooms in order of priority and throw all trash into the bag. If you can’t decide whether or not an item is trash, don’t waste time now. Leave it where it is.

*Next go through your rooms once more but this time bring a box instead of the trash bag. Into the box put everything that belongs in another room. A rolling crate is what I use for this job. This is a box with wheels and a handle and can be found at teacher supply or office supply stores. When you’re finished with room one, move on to room two and take out of the box anything that belongs in that room before adding items belonging in another room. Don’t zig zag from room to room and don’t concern yourself with a specific place for each item. Right now you’re just putting everything into the rooms where they belong.

At this point, stop and take a look around. Things already look less cluttered and more attractive, right? You’re making progress! OK, back to work!

*Finally, walk back through each room once more, this time bringing a box that can be stored or stacked. Don’t use your rolling box. Put away everything that already has an assigned place (such as shoes in the closet) then put the remaining items into the box. The box might include kids’ artwork or subscription offers. Store the box somewhere where you can deal with it later. I use the far side of my bed where it can’t be seen!

Right now the idea is to get the clutter under control. The left over items can be organized little by little when you have time. You may find out that you throw away lots of the box contents!

If you can’t take on your whole house at once, these four steps can be used on a room-by-room basis. Spend a few minutes each day using the process to declutter one room at a time. You can also use the steps in an emergency situation such as an unexpected overnight guest.

By regularly using these four steps your house will always look attractive and inviting!

Be Your Homes Professional Organizer

You should be able to do everything that needs organization in your home. There is no need to go to outside help with other professional organizers.

We want to give you some tips to organizing the most cluttered spaces within your home. Follow these and the clutter will be gone for good and your home will have a sense of order and peace within its walls.

Placing waste baskets in all bedrooms is a major step to keeping rash off floors and in corners. Having laundry baskets in each bedroom also keeps dirty clothes off the floor and clean clothes folded and neat until put in the closet or drawers.

In the office keep files in a neat cabinet that is easily accessible. And label the files for important things to be kept separate fro one another. On your desk place to trays one for outgoing mail and the other for bills you need to pay. You should also have drawer dividers to keep office supplies in place and separate as well. Incoming mail should be kept in basket by front door.

You will need a Rolodex for phone numbers to be stored neatly and quick to find when needed and two small plastic desk trays one for outgoing mail and one for new mail in your office too.

Pantry areas are a task no one really wants to tackle but once it is done you will be a happy homemaker. Toss everything that is questionable and outdated. Take all items out and go through piece by piece. Put shelf paper on shelves and then make specific areas for all items to go. Separate everything according to what it is and how you use it. This will make finding the needed ingredients and canned items much easier for you and the rest of the family.

Once all shelves have been emptied and items dates checked then start replacing them in categories. These should include soups, condiments, side dishes, fruits, snacks, canned items, packaged mixes, cereals and oatmeal all in one category and keep going until everything has its own place. Just think how simple it will be to open the door and reach for exactly what you need without hunting for it.

Moving on to the closet, these can be total disaster areas and in real need of organization. Start by pulling out everything and going through it one by one. Donate anything that does not fit and you have not worn in over a year. This is an important step in getting and keeping the closet organized from now on.

Organize your closet in groups like your blazers and jackets in one area, jeans and tees in another and you get the point. You can then just reach in to your closet and pull out exactly what you want to wear that day without digging through clothes to find it.

Remember if you never get rid of things then when new things come into your home it is getting cluttered and you have no room for anything to go and actually be enjoyed. Throw out older items that are broken, not used anymore or that you just don’t want. This way your true cherished items can come out of hiding and be seen by all.

Place a small table by your entryway and place a small tray for car keys and a bin for new mail that needs reading and gone through.

Kid’s have a numerous amount of playthings and keeping these organized can be quite a task. It can be done though. Mark plastic bins for certain toys and get your child in the habit of putting there own things up and in its rightful place everyday when they are through with them. Give them a reward each day when they achieve this, such as a gold start on their lists of chores for the week. At the end of the week if they have a certain amount of gold stars then they get a treat.

All of these tips and helpful hints will allow your household to run more smoothly and you have become your own professional organizer.
