New Rock Bucket Adds Strength And Versatility

June 26th, 2010 No comments

ANBO Manufacturing has recently announced a new addition to the tractor and skid steer attachment line – the Rock Bucket. This device allows users to move large quantities of material easily and efficiently.

“The Rock Bucket adds a necessary component to our product line,” said Chris Newman, president of ANBO Manufacturing. “This tool is designed as a rock rake that is both reliable and durable – both farmers and construction workers will have the ability to successfully accomplish almost any task.”

New and Improved Design

This attachment, made with extra tough grade 50 of the X-10 steel, has various added features that provide uniqueness and value.

“Our designers have added new qualities to create a worthwhile tool that is necessary for all types of workers,” said Newman

Innovative characteristics include:

- Narrower tines to reduce clogging

- Tines that are duplicated on the lower half for greater strength

- Front tine bar further toward the front of the grapple to improve sod-cutting capability

- Tine bars designed to intersect, capturing both large and small materials

- A plate in the center of the attachment, directly in line with the user; designed to prevent debris from escaping through the bucket and causing damage or injury

- Cylinders that are protected on lower side from debris by formed plates

The ANBO Skeleton Rock Bucket is available with or without the grapple attachment, and can be ordered to fit any size and type of skid steer or tractor.

“Whether it’s materials in the fields or an industrial area, just grab it, scoop it and transport it,” said Ron Maestas, operations and design engineer manager. “It’s a very worthwhile tool.”

Get Him To The Greek And Its Plot And Critical Reviews

June 22nd, 2010 No comments

Most movies these days are shot using a mix of indoor and outdoor sets. When filming is taking place outside, typically the producers, directors and other people involved in making the movie choose to use mainly natural light of the sun while reflecting it where they want it to go. However, when inside there must be different forms of lighting used; such as fluorescent lighting and sometimes the light schemes are complicated and include people who have the sole task of doing, interior lighting design. One of the films recently released to the world is a film by the title of, Get Him to the Greek, starring an English comedian Russell Brand and American Jonah Hill.

The movie is a comedy film and intended as something of a spinoff of the movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was released a few years ago. It isn’t exactly a sequel to, Forgetting Sarah Marshall because although Russell Brand plays the same character, hard partying rock star Aldous Snow of the band Infant Sorrow, the other actor starring in this film, Jonah Hill, doesn’t retain his role from, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. While this is slightly confusing and doesn’t actually make a whole lot of sense, it’s best for the viewer to just forget this minor detail and enjoy the comedy of the movie rather than sit and poke holes in the plot, which is of course easier for some people than it is for others.

The plot involves a young intern at a record label, Jonah Hill, lying a little bit in his resume to get his dream job and then landing a big assignment right away. His difficult task is to take rocker Aldous Snow, who has recently restarted partying and drinking after a failed single release and subsequent break up with his girlfriend, from London and get him to the Greek theater in Los Angeles. While at face value, many people would assume this to be a simple movie with gross out humor and typical jokes that people would expect for summer, teenage oriented comedy films, many critical analyses have in fact suggested that it’s more of a satire on the life of many rock stars. In fact, the film is said to have a good message deep down which suggests that the rock star life isn’t nearly what many of the people in it claim it to be and can often lead to bad things.

In fact, Get Him to the Greek is one of the best reviewed comedies of the year and many people are saying it is one of the funniest movies of the 2010 movie season so far. The movie has in fact been critically acclaimed by such critics from such famous papers as the New Yorker and such famed movie critics as Richard Roeper.

While humor from producer of, Get Him to the Greek Judd Apatow, who also produced movies such as, The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, isn’t for everyone it is generally well liked and well reviewed. Anybody who is even sort of a fan of Russell Brand or previous Apatow works should probably spend the time and money to go check out, Get Him to the Greek.

How To Utilize Clever Lighting In And Around The Domicile

June 21st, 2010 No comments

What a lot of people forget when they are working out how to illuminate rooms in the house is that different varieties of fittings have different effects in the home. Chandeliers certainly have their place in tall rooms or hallways and Quoizel lighting is very stylish and can be used to very good effect too. For those rooms that do not have so much ceiling height, and this is probably apartments or newer style homes which save on space, there are those fittings which only sit out a few inches from the ceilings. But they can also look extremely chic and stylish too.

Although many people go for the uncluttered look in frosted glass and smooth metal finishes, some really go for those designs which include nature and modern designs. Flowers or modern designs which are etched on and colored in can often dictate what the room will look like when finished. But care should be taken because once this piece is bought all the other furnishings have to be color coordinated for sure. If there are other floral displays in the same room they may clash with this fitting and this will not look good for sure. It is best to stick to plain shades if the furniture is of a particular colorful or patterned variety which will certainly dictate what color to use.

For outside the home there are many and varied designs depending on what the area is to be used for. In the garden there are many varieties which include low set lamps which merely show the pathways around the place. These lead the user around the garden to those areas where there may be seating niches or even a place where cooking can be done. Up-lighters are normally set in the bushes and illuminate the underside of the tree canopy that looks great for dinner parties. Adding different color bulbs will also give different effects which can spotlight different plants. Around the deck areas try putting some great outdoor lamps to enhance the setting particularly if eating is to take place there. This is where people like to have small dinner parties or family gatherings and the illumination has to be perfect to add to the occasion.

For the front of the house or the entrance way, having some lovely carriage lamps on either side of a Georgian or Victorian door illuminates the place to great effect. Even if the door itself is of the modern variety, there are cleaner lined designs which set it off and still do the job of showing who is standing there. Although some people do not like ornate lamps, having a modern square lamp is also highly acceptable particularly if the surrounding metal matches the door furniture. Of course there will always be a need for security system which includes bright and direct lamps to discourage anyone who want to break in. Having them linked to motion control sensors is also a good thing since they only use power when necessary.

It is obvious then that illumination is used for many and varied reasons and not just for decoration or for stopping burglars. It is important, therefore, to choose wisely where and how lamps are made.

Connor R. Sullivan recently searched the internet for great deals on chandelier fixtures for a home remodeling job he and his wife are completing. He and his wife had a large selection of Quoizel lighting fixtures to choose from online.

Growing African Marigolds

June 20th, 2010 No comments

Fifteen years has been time profitably spent in an experiment with one flower – the African marigold. It’s taken a small garden plot, a few choice seeds, patience and careful work. By a process of elimination of the inferior and the selection of the best seed plants year after year, a very artistic and superior strain has been developed.

In the Spring of 1994, seeds of the Orange Prince, Yellow Supreme, Sunset Giants and a large unnamed variety, were planted; each in a separate bed. About 100 plants were set out before June 10; two to four plants around a good, firm stake. As they grew they were tied carefully but securely. This first season produced a large harvest of fine blooms. The very best ones in size and color, and those of artistic form that stood erect on strong long stems, were saved for seed. They were bunched as to color and hung up to be thoroughly dried before the seed was taken.

The elimination of all plants as they began blooming, bearing single, semi-double and strong-odored blooms began at once to be beneficial. The first Summer, at least, 60 percent of the plants were destroyed before the bees and insects had an opportunity to cross pollinize the best blooms with pollen from the inferior ones in the garden. Each year the operation was repeated so that during the first five years, the number of inferior plants was reduced to about 18 percent. The next five years, by actual counts, the per cent was lowered to 12, and the last five years not over five per cent have been inferior producing plants.

The selection of best seed plants, year after year, has produced outstanding qualities of color, odor, general size of blooms, the length and strength of stems and large strong plants. These features began to manifest themselves in a small way from the very start. They have increased in degree throughout the whole trial. The color range following all the original varieties, from a very light, pale yellow, through gold to a very deep orange, has been maintained and their brilliancy intensified. While intensely full, or complex, the blooms are unexcelled in artistic beauty.

For the first seven years, the percent of large blooms – four inches or over – was under the usual 10 per cent claimed for the African marigold group. From then on, the per cent reached 10 or over. In the fourteenth year, out of 420 plants, one patch of 320 grown from seed taken from the run of the garden, yielded 22 per cent. The other patch of 100 plants – seed from special blooms – produced 18 percent.

The African marigold, grown around stakes and tied firmly, makes a glorious display of color from August 1 until heavy frost comes; sometimes here as late as November 20. They are fine for cutting – 10 to 29 fine blooms – and with good odor, color, strong stems and foliage, make an unforgettable bouquet for the home or office.

Proper Care And Cleaning Of Your Fine Crystal

June 20th, 2010 No comments

Glass with a special lead oxide is known as crystal. Improving density by incorporating lead oxide into the glass results in a far greater vibrancy and superior reflecting characteristics. Basically, greater color refraction means there is more lead in the crystal. Not all crystal is created equally, though. Some crystal is denser, creating more weight, because it is made with a greater percentage of lead.

Seed bubbles can often be found in glass that has been hand crafted. As a crystal piece is being created, Seed bubbles, which are small pockets of trapped air, can occur. Only when the crystal piece is held up to a strong light can these tiny air pockets, or bubbles, be seen. Finding seed bubbles in your crystal is an indicator that your piece was created by hand.

Being made by hand can also be determined by specific tell-tale signs on the outer surface of the crystal called flow lines and chill marks. Having any of these markings does not mean the crystal is inferior or defective in any way; it’s simply another way of authenticating handmade work.

Chill marks, flow lines, nearly undetectable air bubbles, and other trivial things will always found in crystal, even among the MOST EXPENSIVE pieces. It’s just part of the process, especially with handcrafted crystal.

The amount of lead found in of a piece of crystal contributes to it’s softness. The following is a list of tips in learning to care for your crystal; for example the presence of dust can create abrasions and scratches upon the glass.

Tips in Caring For Your Crystal:

Keep other glassware from coming into contact with your fine crystal.

Always bring your crystal glasses to rest with the base facing DOWN, not the extremely fragile rim.

- Always place glasses right side up for storage to avoid stress on the rim of the piece.

Broken crystal may be salvageable. Specifically designed epoxy for glass, which dries clear, can be used to re-bond a crystal piece. Put the piece in warm sunlight to further aid the holding power of the epoxy while drying.

Proper washing of crystal.

Dust can leave abrasions and noticeable lines in your crystal. Clean gently with a soft, lint-free drying fabric, using only gentle soap.

Never use soaking solutions that contain ammonia as it may wear away edge designs or gold rims of the glasses. It’s best to limit cleaning to a gentle solvent.

Collecting princess house heritage crystal crystal is a hobby of mine. I learned the hard way how to clean crystal and decided to share some tips with you. My other past time is making flutter sleeve dresses. Both are very unique hobbies that I thoroughly enjoy. Hope you like the article!

Home Office Furniture Can Make The Difference

June 20th, 2010 No comments

Many people are now moving away from working for companies. The entrepreneur spirit is driving them to start their own companies and work from home. The one thing that this small business owners need to consider is the importance of setting one room aside to use as a an office. The room should be furnished with Office Furniture, even if it is just a desk, chair and computer.

Lighting is very important. A room with a window to the outside is ideal. The more sunlight is available will reduce the depression that office workers often fall into. It is also important to have a lamp or overhead lighting that provides good quality reading light. One of the hazards of office work is eye strain. This can cause headaches and general fatigue.

Design the office with the pros and cons of a regular office in mind. Make the room a private room. Either a door or a divider can provide this feeling of privacy. This is to divide the household duties and the office duties into separate worlds. Distractions must be kept to a minimum. Also try to make sure the room provides a quiet place to work.

In a office in the home, you are most likely going to be the IT department. This should be a nice feeling in comparison to the big brother approach of most large companies. If you want to wear pajamas while filling out invoices, then go right ahead. There probably isn’t too much need for a human resources department to monitor the dress code.

Make sure that there is enough works space in the office. Select the furniture that will feel good to be around and that provides a professional look. Keeping an office clean and organized is really important because it can affect the work schedule. It will help to remind that it is not just fun and games because you are working at home.

Stocking up on the supplies for the office will also probably be your responsibility. Often times, people will forget to get the printer paper until it is time to print something out. Pens, papers and ink for the printer should always be kept in stock. Don’t forget to pick up some extra post it notes too.

Consider getting a floor mat for under the chair. If the chair has wheels then the floor mat will allow it to roll in a smooth way. These mats also protect the floor underneath the chair. Carpet can become worn very easily when there is the high traffic of a rolling chair on top of it. It is also good for a wooden floor to prevent scuffs and scratches.

Choosing Office Furniture can be an exciting adventure. It is a time that allows you to express what type of person you are. Is your office going to be fun and exciting? Maybe you like a stuffy looking office, that’s OK too. Whatever you want, it will be you making the decisions now.

Business office furniture for your new home office should be selected with care. You will probably spend more time in your office chair than you do in your recliner.

The Process Of How To Replace A Sash Cord On Double Hung Windows Without Too Many Problems

June 20th, 2010 No comments

In order to know how to replace a sash cord you need to understand the basics of a double hung window. A double hung window has two sashes one on top and one on bottom. A sash is the framework that holds the glass. The sashes slide up and down within a window frame. The side frames are the jambs. Heavy metal sash weights connect to sashes with a rope-and-pulley system hidden behind the jambs. The weights provide a counterbalance that makes the sash easy to open.

A series of stops are attached to the jambs to provide grooves in which the sashes can slide. The stops that keep the frames separated and the inside stops can be pried off to remove a sash.

To begin this project, gather the materials and tools you will need to replace a broken sash cord. This includes new sash cord, a putty knife, a utility knife, finishing nails, a hammer, putty, paintbrushes and paint for possible touch-ups.

To gain access to the cord you need to remove the inside window stop from the sides of the frame. Position the putty knife at each nail holding the stop in place and slowly move it back and forth until you are able to pry the stop off. Be careful not to split the wood.

With the stops removed, the frame should come out easily. Remove the damaged sash cord from its slot. Most sash windows have an access panel to get to the weight. The access panel will need to be removed; if there no access panel then the side window casing has to be taken out to get to the weight.

Painted over access panels will mean chipping the paint to determine where the screws are that hold the panel in place. You may need to score painted edges with the utility knife in order to lift the panel out. Once the panel is removed, any remaining cord should be cut off. Thread the new sash cord over the pulley until it appears in the access panel. Tie the new cord to the weight making sure the knot is sturdy but not bulky as it can get stuck in the window frame. Place the weight back into the cavity. Tie a knot to the other end of the cord to make the weight suspend three inches above the bottom of the sill when the sash is in an open position.

Replace the framework and insert the moldings using finishing nails to secure them. Fill any gaps in the moldings with the putty. Paint any chips in the wood. The project is complete and your double hung window should work like new. Do-it-yourself homeowners can learn how to replace a sash cord by following steps found on the Internet or talking with professionals at our local hardware store.
